Happy 50th Birthday Singapore (Our Golden Jubilee)!

|
By A Lacquered Affair · August 9, 2015 · 0 Comments ·

Greetings lovelies!

It's the 9th of August and for us here in Singapore, it's a celebration of our independence. We experience the biggest ever celebration this year, being our golden jubilee. We have a 4-day long National Day weekend (woohoo)! It has been a year of incredible highs and some lows for our 50 year-old country, and we're only in the month of August. In fact, we've been overwhelmed with a slew of #SG50 commemorations and perks since the start of 2015.

Almost every year, my nails are decked out in national pride. Looking back, here are the past National Day manicures: 2012 & 2013.

This is what I'm dawning today for our golden jubilee:
National Day 2015 (Celebrating SG50)I went super sparkly this year!

1965 was the year Singapore was declared independent, and 2015 marks the golden 50th year of independence. The numbers were freehanded with red acrylic paint.
The Ruffian manicure on the middle finger is perfect in representing the crescent moon on our flag. The five stars are typically white on our flag, but I went with gold glitter nail stickers this year, to drive through the 'golden jubilee' theme.
The red blob using red acrylic paint on the pinky is my feeble attempt at silhouetting our little red dot, our island, stippled with fireworks in the background.

Polishes used:
Estessimo TiNS 079 Notes From Heaven (white crelly with holographic micro glitter and iridescent flecks)
Darling Diva Polish Little Red Corvette (red crelly with red and holographic glitter)
Glam Polish Life Is A Story (opaque gold holographic glitter with purple flakies)
Glam Polish Comet Storm (purple-green-blue shifting flakies)

Here's a parting shot:
National Day 2015 (Golden Jubilee)Now, I'm off to make the most out of the rest of the weekend break and perhaps get re-acquainted with my polishes.

Cheers to another 50 years, Singapore!

Starrily Party Time! Siloso Beach Trio

Starrily Party Time! Siloso Beach Trio| sea-lo-soh |
"The word Siloso is derived from a Malayan word meaning rock (Sanskrit root: Sila). There was a huge rock at the mouth of Singapore's harbour which was very dangerous to shipping." -
Wikipedia
"Home to the hottest volleyball action along with the coolest bars and restaurants, Siloso, Singapore's hippest beach, is the beach to head to for fun-loving people – day and night." - Sentosa

Hey there lovelies!

It's been too long, but I'm back. Many things have been plaguing me since the start of 2015. I'm thankful for this long Labour Day weekend, where I can sit back and enjoy nail-painting again.

In this post, I'd like to share a collection of which its theme is pretty significant to my day job at present. 'Party Time! Siloso Beach Trio' collection by Starrily is a Mei Mei's Signatures exclusive.

The Inspiration
Sentosa The State of Fun'Party Time! Siloso Beach Trio' collection is inspired by one of the few islands that is part of Singapore - Sentosa, a resort island. I could share many things about Sentosa, having worked there for several projects for my day job, but it is best to be experienced.

Sentosa means "peace and tranquility" in Malay. The island was previously a British military base and fortress during colonial and WWII. Now, Sentosa houses several attractions (Asia's top theme park, Universal Studios Singapore, being one of them), and the most happening beach in Singapore - Siloso. More information and photos of Sentosa here.

This collection reflects the spirit of some of the key spots in Sentosa.

First Impressions
The collection strikes me as fun, with a little feminine flirty spark with the soft pink holo. Indie brand Starrily, by Mawi from Brooklyn, New York, packages polishes in a standard 15ml/ 0.5 fl.oz bottle with the logo in front, and polish name on the bottom.

First up...

Pink Flip Flops
"(also called thongs, jandals, pluggers, go-aheads, slaps, slides, step-ins, chankla or a variety of other names throughout the world) are a type of open-toed sandals typically worn in casual situations. They consist of a flat sole held loosely on the foot by a Y-shaped strap that passes between the first and second toes and around either side of the foot." - Wikipedia
Starrily Pink Flip FlopsFlip flops are a relatively common sight in Sentosa as the island oozes a laid back vibe. Well, also for practical purposes. Flip flops are also commonly worn in Singapore in general. The hot, and sometimes wet, tropical climate can be unforgiving to the outdoorsy feet.

Described as a baby pink jelly holo, this polish is exactly that! The linear holo is very evident in the bottle.
On the nails in 1 coat over base coat:

Starrily Pink Flip Flops
The jelly formula is pretty sheer, but the consistency is smooth and buttery.
By the 3rd coat, it's pretty opaque:
Starrily Pink Flip FlopsThis demure shade would definitely bask in it its holo goodness on a sunny beach.

Merlion's Dream
| murh-lī-ən |

"The Merlion is a traditional creature in western heraldry that depicts a creature with a lion head and a body of a fish. In Singapore, it has become a marketing icon used as a mascot and national personification of Singapore. Merlions do not feature in any local folklore or myths of Singapore, and was only used in Singapore initially as the logo for the tourism board." - Wikipedia

The Inspiration
Merlion @ Sentosa
Sentosa is home to one of the 5 official merlion statues in Singapore, with this being the largest at 37 metres tall. The viewing decks at its mouth and head overlooks Sentosa island and parts of Singapore.

During special occasions, the merlion serves as a backdrop to 3D projection mapping shows like the one by Hexogon Solution below:

<iframe width="700" height="394" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/3J9Q50Z2EjA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe>

Starrily Merlion's DreamMerlion's Dream is described as a "Glitterbomb topper of gold glitters in various shapes and sizes in clear holo base."
It is filled with star, crescent, diamond, hexagon, round, square and micro glitter pieces, capturing the texture and aspirations the merlion represents in a bottle.

Here's one coat of Merlion's Dream on bare nails:
Starrily Merlion's DreamStarrily Merlion's Dreamand a close-up:
Starrily Merlion's Dream macroThe polish is generously filled with micro holographic glitter that enhances the larger shaped glitter. The base is slightly thick due to the intense amount of glitter but you get ample amount of smaller glitter over nail in a coat. Glitter fishing and placement (with a woodstick) is necessary for the larger glitter pieces.

Here's how it compares in (from top) 1, 2, 3 and 4 coats:
Starrily Merlion's DreamAs more coats are added, the finish gets uneven and bumpy.
For the full-on glitter addicts, this is 4 coats of Merlion's Dream on all nails, with topcoat:

Songs of the Sea
"Songs of the Sea was a multimedia show located at Siloso Beach on Sentosa Island, Singapore. Designed by ECA2 founder, Yves Pépin, Songs of the Sea started its operations on 26 March 2007, a day after the Sentosa Musical Fountain ceased operations. The fountain is a $30 million investment by Sentosa to enhance its entertainment product offerings and to attract more tourists. It was the world's only permanent show set in the sea — with spectacular pyrotechnics displays, water jets that could shoot up to 40 meters, laser show, flame bursts, a live 7-person cast, and an open-air viewing gallery which can comfortably accommodate 3,000 visitors. Songs of the Sea had its final show on 4 May 2014, and was closed to make way for a brand new multi-sensory production titled Wings of Time, which was launched on 17 June 2014." - Wikipedia

The Inspiration
Words and photos cannot sufficiently portray the visual spectacle of the Songs of the Sea show, which I, unfortunately, was not able to witness in person before the run ended. YouTube video by ECA2Paris:

<iframe width="630" height="473" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/qF4aryFzgOM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe>

I have, however, experienced the new Wings of Time show that replaced it, and it is just as spectacular.

And back to the polish...
Starrily Song Of The SeaSongs Of The Sea contains the widest assortment of glitter pieces I've ever seen in a bottle. It has matte stars, flowers, dots, hearts and donuts in an assortment colours (neons, brights, pastels), all suspended in a clear base.

One coat over bare nails:
Starrily Songs Of The SeaThis glitter polish definitely requires a lot of fishing...and patience! After 1 swipe with the brush, additional pieces are carefully positioned using an orange woodstick. The most difficult pieces to fish are the hearts and flowers, being larger and heavier.

The next shots are Songs Of The Sea paired with a couple of base shades; as a glitter topper and jelly sandwich:

Final Thoughts
This collection screams summer fun and party, pretty apt for a beach scene. While the best formula among the 3 is Pink Flip Flops, I like the creative possibilities of Songs Of The Sea, despite the tediousness of fishing for glitter and positioning them.

These parting shots feature all 3 polishes in a mani, over a-england Camelot, to try and capture the feel of Songs Of The Sea and 3D mapping show on the merlion:

Easter 2014

| ˈēstər |
The most important and oldest festival of the Christian Church, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ and held (in the Western Church) between March 21 and April 25, on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the northern spring equinox. - Google Dictionary

Happy Easter everyone!

With the 3-day weekend that came with this holiday, I still felt strapped for time. In no less than 11 hours, I'd have to be back at work (boo!).

In the spirit of the festival, I've been donning an Easter nail design, as with the last 2 years (here and here). This year, it's a skittle of Easter egg designs, shown below with 1 coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast topcoat.
Easter Nail Art 2014From left:
Index - 3 coats Essie No Baggage Please, 1 coat OPI Shorts Story, white acrylic
Middle - 2 coats Darling Diva Polish Serendipity, 1 coat OPI Shorts Story, white acrylic
Ring - 2 coats Innisfree #123 Dawn Air, stripes using Essence Oh My Glitter, Isadora Wonder Nail 729 Marzipan, OPI Shorts Story, white acrylic dots
Pinky - Isadora Wonder Nail 738 Blue Lagoon and 729 Marzipan gradient, yellow and white acrylic paint, OPI Shorts Story (dots)

Bottle shot of the polishes involved:

From left: Essie No Baggage Please, OPI Shorts Story, Darling Diva Polish Serendipity, Innisfree #123 Dawn Air, (top) Essence Oh My Glitter, Isadora Wonder Nail 738 Blue Lagoon, 729 Marzipan

The Isadora polishes were part of a generous gift from My Nail Polish Online. I'm pretty spoilt with Isadora polishes from her, and they are kept like treasure. Their creme formulas are some of the best, in my opinion.

The one I had a hard time with was Essie No Baggage Please. Essie, no more streaky polishes, please.

Keeping it short, that's all for this post. Enjoy your Easter holiday and be polished!

St. Patrick's Day 2014

|
By A Lacquered Affair · March 17, 2014 · 0 Comments ·

aka St. Paddy's Day
"Saint Patrick's Day or the Feast of Saint Patrick is a cultural and religious holiday celebrated on 17 March. It is named after Saint Patrick (c. AD 385–461), the most commonly recognised of the patron saints of Ireland." - Wikipedia

Hello lovelies!

This is the third consecutive  year I've done a St. Patrick's Day manicure. What can I say? I love the luscious green, love it paired with gold and love the tradition and folklores.

This year, I've gone a little simpler. My previous manis in 2012 are here, and 2013 here.

The polishes involved in this year's mani are:
Polishes for St. Patrick's Day 2014 Mani
(from left)
♥ Essence Sure Azure
♥ Essence Bashful (Snow White collection)
♥ Girly Bits Magically Delicious
♥ a-england Dragon (top)
♥ a-england Holy Gail (revamped, bottom)
♥ Essence 04 One Kiwi A Day (Fruity collection)
Base for St. Patrick's Day Mani
The base layers:
♥ Index and pinky: 3 coats Girly Bits Magically Delicious
♥ Middle: 3 coats sponged gradient with Essence 04 One Kiwi A Day and Sure Azure
♥ Ring: 2 coats Essence Bashful

Girly Bits Magically delicious has a light green jelly base, and if not for the concentration of glitter, the nail line would have been more visible. I'm not too concerned about it, and love this polish on its own. The large square gold glitter did require some skillful fishing to get it out of the bottle. It had to be positioned on the flatest part of the nail, or the edges stick out, like it did on my index fingernail.

Essence Bashful applied seamlessly in 2 coats. Love the gold shimmer peeking through the forest green.

Over the middle and ring fingers, I stamped images from Bundle Monster BM-H05, from the holiday 2013 collection - clover leaves with a-england Dragon and a Celtic knot in a-england Holy Grail.

The finished look, topped with 1 coat of Cult Nails Wick Fast topcoat (I've re-discovered my love for this topcoat):
St. Patrick's Day Inspired Mani 2014The clover leaves did not transfer onto the stamper and nail fully. I'm still in need of a lot of practice (or magical skills from the stamping divinities that be).

So, how is everyone celebrating St. Patrick's Day, and what's on your nails?

Till the next post, sláinte!

Chinese New Year 2014

|
By A Lacquered Affair · February 1, 2014 · 0 Comments ·

"Chinese New Year is an important traditional Chinese holiday celebrated at the turn of the Chinese calendar. In China, it is also known as the Spring Festival, the literal translation of the modern Chinese name. Chinese New Year celebrations traditionally run from Chinese New Year's Eve, the last day of the last month of the Chinese calendar, to the Lantern Festival on the 15th day of the first month, making the festival the longest in the Chinese calendar. Because the Chinese calendar is lunisolar, the Chinese New Year is often referred to as the "Lunar New Year" - Wikipedia

A big hey to all and Gong Xi Fa Cai to all friends celebrating the Lunar New Year!
I've finally got some break and inspiration to get back into polishing and blogging, starting with this current holiday-inspired manicure.

I don't celebrate the festival but it presents an opportunity to pig out on goodies, enjoy one of the longest public holidays here in Singapore, and a source of inspiration to force out a red nail polish (which is a rare sight in my stash).

Using metal nail decals and freehand, this is my set of Chinese New Year nails:
Chinese New Year Inspired Mani 2013 Index finger and pinky: 2 coats Estessimo TiNS 090 The Lips at 0am (uh, what??), topped with Glisten & Glow HK Girl topcoat with gold metal nail decal (from a haul thanks to @subtletyisoverrated)

Middle finger: 2 coats OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls as base, with freehanded pussy willows - cultural spignificance during the Lunar New Year (to represent the arrival of Spring, good fortune). Branches - ManGlaze Santorium, catkins - Skin Food Nail Vita Alpha (textured) ASG04 Sugar Strawberry (pink)

Ring finger: 2 coats OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls as base, dotted with Zoya Beatrix as a pair of oranges, green leaves with China Glaze Emerald Sparkle, red fan with butter LONDON Rebel Fox, lined with Etude House LUCIDarling Sparkling #01.

Estessimo TiNS 090 The Lips at 0am is the latest purchase from Mei Mei's Signatures, apparently a new shade from the brand. I thought this would be perfect for the Chinese New Year themed manicure.

Parting shot:
Chinese New Year Inspired Mani 2013I've got a ton of catching up to do. Stay tuned, folks!

Topaz-Inspired Manicure

The November birthstone poem reflects some of the properties with which the Topaz is associated - constancy, loyalty, faithfulness and friendship. The Traditional Metaphysical Properties for the November Birthstone Topaz are strength, releasing tension and balancing emotions. Hiya lovelies!

It's another installment of #PolishTogether. If you haven't already heard about it, check it out on Instagram.
Today, we celebrate Topaz, November's birthstone, which is also my birthstone! *hint hint*

Here's the event poster that @perpetualfunk has once again nailed:
Topaz - November's Birthstone for #PolishTogether
Even though Topaz is my birthstone, I'm not crazy about the colour. My interest is piqued by rainbow topaz though, but that's another story.

These are my choice of polishes for this manicure:

Estessimo TiNS 403 Rich Topaz and Zoya BeatrixEstessimo TiNS 403 Rich Topaz and Zoya Beatrix

Estessimo TiNS 403 Rich Topaz is slightly deep champagne gold polish with scattered holo bits and the subtlest hint of orange shimmer bits. I had to include this polish for this theme because of its name, and also because I'm biased towards Estessimo TiNS and will attempt to include one in any manicure possible. *ah hem*

This is 2 coats of Estessimo TiNS 403 Rich Topaz in 3 coats:

Opal-inspired Manicure

"For those who were born in the month of October the Opal is the traditional birthstone. The Traditional Metaphysical Properties for the October Birthstone Opal are happiness, faithfulness, loyalty and confidence. The name opal actually means "to see a change in color." The opal occurs in several types of color. The White opal has a white body color with pastel glints of rainbow color. Black opal has a blue, gray or black body color. Fire opal is a transparent or a translucent opal with a yellow, orange or red body color that may also have a flash of color." - BirthdayGems.org

*jumps out of hiding*
A big HEY y'all!
How's everyone been? Me, I'm trying to stay afloat in an ocean with no horizon (also known as day job, which is ironic because it drags on into the nights). Which leads me to lament, yet again, about how all my nail painting and blogging have taken a backseat.

Here's me trying to catch up with #PolishTogether's (over on Instagram) monthly birthstone series in this post. This month's features Opal, and here's the poster and call for participation created and hosted by @perpetualfunk:
Opal - October's Birthstone for #PolishTogetherMuch thanks to Pearlynn for keeping this rolling month after month!

And here's my opal-inspired manicure:
Opal-inspire Mani (Flakies)On the nails:
(basecoat: Nail Tek Foundation III, topcoat: Glisten & Glow HK Girl Topcoat)
♥ a-england Camelot (black base) - 1 coat
♥ OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls (off-white base) - 2 coats
♥ Essence Blue Addicted (over black bases) - 1 coat over index and pinky
♥ China Glaze Snow Globe - 2 coats over index finger
♥ Glitter Gal Lightning Ridge - 2 coats over index and pinky, and 3 coats over ring finger

A flakie polish was an immediate choice, as the effect mimics opals almost perfectly. The curves on the middle and ring fingers were meant to imitate the curved oval edge of an opal. Sadly, it does not work the same magic over white as I had hoped.

Essence Blue Addicted was added because I needed some blue glitter over black base to give the nails a fuller 'opal' look. I could only fish out copper and green flakies from Lightning Ridge.

Here's a close-up:
Opal-inspire Mani (Flakies)Because the flakies content in Lightning Ridge is not as dense as, say, Essie Shine of the Times, I had to go for 2 coats. The formula was gret though.

And here's the Instagram version (@lacqueredaffair):
Opal-inspire Mani (Flakies)If you're on Instagram, do search for the #polishtogether hashtag to check out the other monthly birthstones manicures.

Wish me luck for some time away from work so I can get this blog's gears running again. Till then, enjoy what's left of Sunday!

Sapphire-Inspired Manicure

"The traditional color associated with the Sapphire is the deep blue color and was strongly favored as a popular gem in jewelry. The meaning of colors through the ages represented many aspects of life. Social, religious, biblical and Christian symbolism were all reflected in the color blue. The symbolic meaning of the color blue has a Biblical meaning symbolizing heavenly grace. Sapphires can be found in a variety of colors, not just different shades of blue, these include yellow, pink and white. Sapphires with colors other than blue are generally referred to as fancy sapphires. The distinctive blue of the sapphire is due to minute amounts of oxide of iron and titanium in the stone." - BirthdayGems.org

Hi there lovelies!

EEK! I missed the #PolishTogether (over on Instagram) September's birthstone theme yesterday! Life just whizzes by faster than the Flash and my virtual (polish) life is fast losing ground.

I did, however, manage to sneak in a teeny breather later this week and hope to get some productive swatching and blogging done. And perhaps get some 'inventory' management done as well. (Disclaimer: I do not sell nail polishes)

For this September, @perpetualfunk has yet again got things going by hosting the monthly birthstone theme; this month's being Sapphire. I do love blues on my nails, especially the kind that lure your stare to its deep ,dark perilous depths. However, for this theme, I went with the following polishes:
Polishes for Sapphire-inspired Mani(clockwise from top)
♥ Darling Diva Polish Invoke The Spirit
♥ OPI Designer Series Sapphire
♥ Deborah Lippmann Lady Sings The Blues

Yes, I did choose OPI DS Sapphire for its name that had literal reference to the theme. (Hey, I desperately needed to get this done!) I got this gem from a neighbourhood beauty store when I got carried away dusty-hunting. It's so old that the cap was impossible to open, that is, until I followed the advise of a few fellow polish enthusiasts to dip the cap to its neck in hot water. Worked like a charm!

I chose Deborah Lippmann Lady Sings The Blues (a surprise gift from Kate of @LacquerCareFactor last year. She was fulfilling one of my lemmings) for its blue crelly base and glitter but it ended up looking quite flat on the names.

So Darling Diva Polish (psst! She has a new site for her online store) Invoke The Spirit came into the picture to remedy that. Contrary to how it looks in the bottle, the base is actually quite sheer. But it is crammed with blue shimmer, blue flakies, large iridescent hex glitter in green, orange, silver and blue, with sprinkles of star and crescent moon holographic glitter. I deliberately fished out only the blue hex glitter for this mani. I only recently discovered that it glows in the dark, but I didn't try it out this time. It was part of her Halloween collection for 2012.

Now that I've boring you with longwinded details, I shall just spam you with photos from here on. On the nails are 3 coats of OPI DS Sapphire, and as an accent on the ring finger, 2 coats of Deborah Lippmann Lady Sings The Blues with2 coats of Darling Diva Polish Invoke The Spirit. All finished with 1 coat of Glisten & Glow HK Girl Topcoat and accessorised with blue rhinestones.

I've noted that OnSugar's Comment feature has caused a few readers frustration by not accepting their input. While OnSugar works on rectifying it, I did a trial and error and found that comments don't get red-taped if you enter your information in the "Name" field without any space, ie. "ALacqueredAffair" instead of "A Lacquered Affair". I hope this works. As much as I want to, OnSugar doesn't allow the disabling of Captcha.

"The word Peridot is derived from the Greek word "faridat" which means "gem". The peridot (pronounced pear-a-doe) is a pale green variety of chrysolite and used as a gemstone. The crystal structure of the Peridot (magnesium iron silicate), the August birthstone, is orthorhombic. The Peridot is one of the few gemstones tha come in only one colour. The depth of green depends on how much iron is contained in the crystal structure. It is also often referred to to as "poor man's emerald". - BirthstoneGems.org

Hello lovelies,
Hello weekend!

It's been a long time since I've written a blog post in relation to a themed event promoted on Instagram. #SGSwatchFest has progressed to #PolishTogether (@PolishTogether) and this installment's is based on the August's birthstone - Peridot. This installment is hosted by @perpetualfunk, who also created a very inspirational mood board/ announcement.

Here are the polishes used for my peridot-inspired manicure:
Polishes for Peridot-inspired ManicureClockwise from top:
♥ Bondi NYC The Limelight
♥ Estessimo TiNS The Sleek Lounge
♥ Estessimo TiNS The Spicy Pinwheel

It seems as though Bondi fits right in with Estessimo given its name!

The base - 2 coats of The Limelight and The Sleek Lounge over 1 coat of Nail Tek Foundation III basecoat, topcoatless:
2 coats Estessimo TiNS The Sleek Lounge & 2 coats Bondi The LimelightBondi The Limelight is brighter in person, my camera just couldn't capture it.

On its own, Estessimo TiNS The Sleek Lounge fits the Peridot theme to a T. Packed with lime green glitter, some with holographic properties, in an light olive jelly base.

Here's a close-up on its own:
Estessimo TiNS The Sleek Lounge - 2 coatsInspired by My Nail Polish Online, one of my closest polish pals, I decided to attempt swirls a la spiral vines, because of all the greens going on on my nails.
Peridot and Spiral Vines Inspired maniSome champagne gold glitter of Estessimo TiNS The Spicy Pinwheel was added in the form of dots and ends of some of the vines to counter the greens, to give an overall peridot feel.

My favourite tool for nail art details these days is the pointed tip of an orange woodstick. Odd, right?! But I feel like I have more control with a rigid tip.

Here's the Instagram version:

That's all for today folks!
It's an early work day for me tomorrow (7:00am. It should be a crime to wake up at such ungodly hour on a Monday), but I've got some posts lined up for next week and hope to keep the momentum going.

And remember to check out the other Peridot-themed nails via the #PolishTogether hashtag on Instagram.

Toodles, lovelies!

Happy 48th Birthday Singapore!

By A Lacquered Affair · August 9, 2013 · 0 Comments ·

Hello lovelies!

9th of August means Singapore is another year older. As our country enjoys a 4-day long weekend of celebrations (8th August being Hari Raya Aidilfitri or Eid Mubarak, and today, our National Day), I'm here with a super-quick post to join in the celebrations with a National Day manicure.

I did one this time last year, with a gist of our tiny country. Click here to have a look.

Fast forward 365 days, here's this year's mani:
National Day 2013A somewhat similar rendition of last year's mani, but with some freehand nail art detailing - a silhouette of the Merlion on the index finger, and Marina Bay Sands and the Singapore Flyer on the middle finger, popular icons of Singapore. A little boo-boo on the Merlion though. It looks like it's spitting (which is a legal offence here, FYI), but it's supposed to be spurting water like the actual structure.

The white block was sponged at the border for a slight gradient effect.

Polishes used:
♥ OPI Liquid Sand Magazine Cover Mouse (red with pink and gold micro glitter)
♥ OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls (grey-tinged white creme)
♥ OPI Minnie Style (white and Fuschia mid-sized hex glitter in a clear base)
♥ Topcoat - Glossy Glam by Rica

In another news, it's also A Lacquered Affair's 2nd anniversary this August! *throws more glitter in the air*
I've been way to busy to think of a celebration, but I have, however, gotten a new camera yesterday, out of desperation really. After 5 years of love-hate relationship, it's time to call it quits after it refuses to work.

While I love the crisp image quality of the newer one, getting the colour settings right was exasperating. I'd love to know your thoughts on the colours of the above photo, if it has the same feel as past posts', better or off.

To those with the 4-day long weekend privilege, enjoy! I'm off to more swatching. Toodles!
