a secret obsession with nail polish, exposed!

Polish Remover = Toner? *eeks!*

By A Lacquered Affair · September 13, 2011 · 0 Comments ·

Just a quickie post...

In my  zombified state earlier, after a long, tiring day at work, I almost applied nail polish remover on my face!! Oh, the horror and disgust when the cotton pad was near enough for my nose to get that strong whiff of potent chemicals.

"Why so careless?" you may wonder. Well, look at the similarities between the bottles:

Toner | Remover

They can easily be mistaken for each other, if I'm not paying attention. I admit though; they should NOT be placed in the same area/ drawer, or even on the same dresser!

Such a clutz. Am I the only one?

Nail Secret: Garlic(?)

By A Lacquered Affair · August 9, 2011 · 0 Comments ·

In my endeavour to get stronger nails, I've been doing a little online research and came across this tip of using garlic to achieve harder nails. I thought it was a joke, but reading the comments, and watching other YouTube videos, it apparently works!

I say, get out your least favourite/ used base coat and give it a try...

Saving + Glamming Up Chipped Nail Polish

By A Lacquered Affair · August 7, 2011 · 0 Comments ·

So I started off the week with China Glaze's Light As Air, and topped the ring fingers with C-C-Courage & Konad image. Loved the demure looking outcome. I also go the chance to try the newly-purchased Poshe nail strengthening base coat. Seems to be okay, couldn't really notice the results. And I cannot rave enough about Seche Vite's ultra water-shine finish and the speed that it dries!

After Day 3, I noticed some chipping at 2 of the nails' corners, which is decent enough. On Friday, the chippings got more noticeable, and I did not want to go through the hassle of removing it, and re-applying a new polish. Plus, I wanted my nails to look polished that night. Next best thing? Paint over it.

I took out China Glaze's Fairy Dust, a clear, subtle glitter polish. Covered the shipped areas with a dash of Light As Air, a dazzling coat or two of Fairy Dust, another coat of Seche Vite, and I'm good to go! All in 10 minutes! Here's a video of it:

And speaking of which, I've got a YouTube channel - alacqueredaffair. I hope to load it with tips, reviews, hauls, the works. It would mean a lot to me if you dropped by, rate & subscribe =)

By the way, I'm working on another notebook that doesn't have Photoshop, so my images aren't dolled up as the last post, but will get to it once I get back to my regular notebook.

It's another late night post, so I'm ending it here and hitting the sack. Til next time...
